The RMS WORKER –JULY 2015
EDITORIAL
NATION WIDE GENEREAL STRIKE
2nd SEPTEMBER 2015 BY INDIAN WORKING CLASS
National convention of working class under the banner
of all central trade unions, independent trade unions and federations and
financial sector organizations was held at New Delhi on 26th May
2015. The convention after threadbare discussions and deleberations on the
continuous and vigorous attack mounted on the workers by the NDA government had
resolved to organize nationalwide general strike on 2nd September
2015 demanding withdrawal of amendments in Indian labour laws inorder to
maintain decent life of workmen in this country. All out effors made by the
government ot keep away BMS (Affiliated to BJP) unions from the unity of
working class was in vane due to the firm stand exhibited by them.
The
NDA government has clearly shown their one year rule is exclusively for the
benefit of corporate houses and big
indusrilaists. Profit making companies are being corporatized or privatized.
Foreign direct investment in defence, railways, insurance, banks etc are being
implemented swiftly. Privitization of Govt. Departments such as Indian
railways, Defence production, Postal, Hospital services, Education and so on
are the day to day agenda of the government. NDA governments one year in office
has brought the life of the working people miserable. The existing labour laws
are undergoing major changes as demanded by the corporate houses. Industrial
dispute Act, Contract labour (Regular and abolition) Act Factories Act, and
Apprenticeship Act are amended by various state governments rule by the NDA.
The central government had directed all state governments to amend these labour
acts on the plea that this would undergo major changes for increasing the
industrial production and output.
These
amendments to labour laws would cause job security and social security of
workers. The employer can close, lay off their factories and retrench workers
at their will. Higher and fire of workers would be the motto. Changing the working houses from 8 hours a
day to 12 hours is the demand of the corporate houses. The government is
actively considering their demand. The union budget has proposed EPF and ESI
schemes optional thereby it is evident that these benefits to the workers would
be demolished. This is aimed at rallying under the national pension system and
medical insurance scheme. Private fund managers and private insurance companies
are pressing the government to decide in their favour. The central government
has also failed to bring about a national minimum wage for the workers and
denying the minimum wage and benefits of regular workers to the contract
workers. Permanent and perennial nature of jobs are not filled up. Contract
labours are engaged in their place.
One
year rule of NDA government has undoubtedly exhibited that the central
government is moving ahead with neo liberal economic policies vigorously favouring
corporate houses and big industrialists throwing Indian working class
for naked exploitation by them. We would
call upon all rank and file workers to unite and mobilize for country wide
general strike and participate en mass on 2nd September 2015 and make it
massive success.
